Long-lasting fertiliser for organic gardening

Sheep wool pellets are a natural slow-release fertiliser made from untreated sheep's wool. They are easy to apply and accurately to dose, making them suitable for a wide range of crops and plants, including vegetables, herbs, fruit trees and ornamental plants.

Soil microorganisms gradually break down the wool fibres, providing a steady supply of nutrients for approximately 10 months without the risk of over-fertilisation. At the same time, the pellets can absorb several times their own weight in water and release it gradually as needed. This improves soil structure, encourages healthy root development and helps plants withstand dry periods more effectively. In addition, sheep wool pellets can help counteract soil acidification.

Large quantities of coarse sheep's wool are no longer used by the textile industry and often require costly disposal by sheep farmers. By transforming this underutilised natural resource into high-quality fertiliser pellets (without binders or chemical additives) a valuable and sustainable use is found for a difficult-to-process raw material.

The production of sheep wool pellets is resource-efficient and energy-saving. The product is FiBL-listed, independently tested and approved for use in organic farming. It is therefore suitable for both professional organic growers and home gardeners.

Application: Incorporate the pellets into the soil to a depth of approximately 5cm before planting. For supplementary feeding, work the pellets into the soil as close to the roots as possible.

Recommended application rates

For base fertilisation in spring, apply at least

  • 160g/m2 for heavy-feeding crops such as all brassicas, tomatoes and potatoes
  • 120g/m2 for medium-feeding crops such as carrots, beetroot and onions
  • 80g/m2 for light-feeding crops such as peas, radishes and parsley, as well as all summer flowering plants
  • When planting heavy-feeding crops: approximately 40g per plant
  • For fruit trees and ornamental shrubs: approximately 70-140g per plant, depending on nutrient requirements

Nutrient content

  • Total nitrogen (N): approx. 11%
  • Potassium oxide (K2O): approx. 5%
  • Total sulphur (S): approx. 2%
  • Total phosphate (P2O5): 0.16%
  • Magnesium oxide (MgO): 0.05%
  • Organic matter: approx. 85%
  • pH value: approx. 8.8 (alkaline)
