Green Globe is a tall-growing artichoke with round, lightly spiked buds and healthy leaves. Initially slow to develop, but later very productive, including many side buds. Good yield in the first year; in milder locations, it can be grown as a perennial. The dark purple flowers are popular in floral arrangements.
Early planting stimulates increased bud formation in the first year due to the cold stimulus, leading to higher yields. Therefore, we recommend early pre-cultivation in February and planting under fleece from mid-April onwards. The harvest can then be expected around early July. For planting without fleece (from late May), pre-cultivation should begin in early April. Late-planted plants will only flower the following year. The harvest for overwintered plants begins around June of the following year. The cultivation periods for artichokes can vary from region to region due to their high sensitivity to temperature.Green Globe is a tall-growing artichoke with round, lightly spiked buds and healthy leaves.
