Unfortunately, now is no longer the right time to sow root and tuber vegetables such as carrots, parsnips, beetroot, black salsify, fennel, celery, or radishes. These crops need a longer development period and are therefore sown or planted in spring or early summer at the latest. If they are sown too late, the growing season will not be long enough before winter sets in – the plants will remain small and will not be able to develop fully.
