Green manures

In organic gardening, green manure is a central method for soil revitalization and improving fertility, effectively serving a dual purpose. Firstly, through roots: plant roots penetrate and aerate the soil deeply while enriching it with nitrogen. Secondly, through plants: the overgrowth is typically mowed and incorporated into the soil or used elsewhere in the garden as mulch or compost, thereby creating valuable humus and sustainably enhancing soil quality.

Green manure can serve as soil loosener, nitrogen fixer, weed suppressor, or insect feeder. Using our filters, you can select the specific green manure that best suits your garden's needs. Additionally, the choice of green manure depends on the plant family of the subsequent crop. In terms of crop rotation, it's crucial to avoid planting crops from the same family consecutively in the same spot.
